Description: This fish has been specifically bred to be the albino variant of the Firemouth Cichlid. The albino variant has a white base color. This fish has red eyes and sports a vibrant, red color underneath the jaw and operculum. The Firemouth Cichlid originates from Central America. This fish will appreciate a setup with driftwood, inert rocks, sand or a smaller-grained gravel, and neutral water conditions. The Albino Firemouth Cichlid should be kept in a semi-aggressive community. Appropriate tank mates include larger, semi-aggressive barbs and tetras, along with South American cichlids. They can demonstrate more aggressive behaviors when spawning. Males tend to have a longer, pointed dorsal fin when compared with females. This fish is not the most plant-safe due to their digging behavior. It is best to keep hardy plants such as Anubias sp., Java Fern, and Amazon Swords when attempting to keep live plants with a Firemouth Cichlid. To prevent uprooting, plants can be kept potted or glued to heavy rocks and driftwood.
